Unity, Misti and Brea Reese Glitter Watercolor Fun

Hello!

I've been hiding out playing with these Brea Reese liquid Glitter watercolor inks for some time now.  I love them.  They are very inexpensive, and are so much fun to use!

Today I am sharing this card and video to show how terribly easily and quickly you can add color to your images.

I used my original sized MISTI to stamp this classic alarm clock image from the February 2018 Unity Stamps' Kit of the Month onto a kraft cardstock panel.  I used VersaFine Onyx Black ink and it was ready to be watercolored in no time at all.  The VersaFine ink seems to dry very quickly in my dry winter climate, even without heat setting.

I swirled the bottles of Brea Reese glitter ink to reincorporate the glitter that tends to settle back throughout the liquid ink, then placed just tiny drops of the concentrated ink onto my palette.  I used my Faber Castell waterbrush to pick up the ink and paint with, cleaning my brush between colors.  Because the ink is already a liquid, I need very little additional water, making these glitter inks quite versatile since you don't have to have watercolor paper, but can paint on most cardstock

I only used three colors of ink on this card, Gold, Raw Umber and Cadmium Red, and accidentally found that painting the Raw Umber over the dried layer of Gold, created a really pretty brass color! I used a Spectrum Sparkle pen to add glitter to the face of the clock.

It's hard to get the glitter to show up well in a still photo, so here is a picture taken from an angle to catch the pretty shimmer.  I really like these inks.  The glitter is very fine, and even though it seems very faint while I'm painting, it shows up well after the ink is dry.

A very short YouTube video of this project is included here:

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy stamping!

  1. I loved this Chris. In what department of Hobby Lobby did you find the watercolors? Was it in Papercrafts or in the Art Department? Great card and great video. Thank you for the inspiration.❤️

  5. Watercolor pencils are my go-to technique. I am going to look for these inks -- I think they would be fun to play with. Who can resist sparkle, huh? And the control is similar to watercolor pencils. Thanks

  6. you are using multiple colors, put glue in the areas for the first color, then do the second color, and so on. You can also use fine coloured craft sand instead of glitter. Glitter in bulk

  8. Typical things to shop for here are foi gras and the country's best is here although the farther you go into the market the cheaper it gets. Saffron is also a good buy and you can pick up 10 grams of it for around 500 forints or around 2 dollars! ingatlan budapest
