Thankful for A Friend Like You

Sometimes people appear in your life at very opportune times.  Call it fate, or divine intervention, but somehow the universe just seems to put people in the right place at the right time.  These are the people who build you up, encourage, yet ground you, and make your day just a little bit - and often a lot brighter.  Today I'm sharing a few friendship cards that I've been making to send some little gifts to acknowledge and thank some such people for their contribution to the quality and saneness of my life.  I'm truly grateful to them.

These are very clean and simple cards that represent the the solid foundation of the friendship that has been formed over the years with these special people; one of whom is celebrating a birthday today!

I started my cards with the Altenew Cube Builder Stencil and a A2 sized panel of Canson Vellum Bristol paper.  I bought this stencil months ago, but had not ever tried it.  It is so simple to use, and creates such a dynamic and fun pattern.  I adhered the cardstock to my stencil with Purple Tape and used the "Life Changing Blender Brushes" from Picket Fence Studios to gently brush in Distress Oxide ink.  These velvet-y soft bristled brushes apply the ink so softly and smoothly, I may never go back to foam blending pads again.  I started with Evergreen Bough ink, then cleaned my brush by gently brushing on a microfiber towel slightly dampened with water.  The brush dried very quickly as I was cleaning and setting up the stencil for a second color.

I cleaned my stencil with a baby wipe, then rotated it, lining the points up carefully with the first inking, then used Purple Tape once again to secure it.  I then brushed in the second color.  I had to remove and replace the stencil to cover my whole panel with the second color, Candied Apple.

I chose to leave the "tops" of my blocks white.  This inked panel could be used for a background, but I chose to use it as my focal point instead.  I cut the panel diagonally and used my scissor to trim along the blocks to create a pyramid image.  I was able to trim out two pyramids from the one inked panel.

To finish my card, I simply used liquid glue to adhere the pyramids to top folding card bases, and used my Original MISTI to add the sentiment from Reverse Confetti's A Friend Like You stamp set with Gina K. Designs' Amalgam Ink

Thanks for stopping by today!
Go tell a friend how thankful you are to have them in your life today!

  1. This card appears classically simple, but I’m guessing it was not! Love it! It does “enable me” to purchase the stencil and put the “Life Changing Blending Brushes” on my wishlist. Thank you for sharing...beautiful!
