Never Grow Up.

Never grow up...  or at least admit you're older than 29.

I'm not going to get away with that much longer as my first baby boy turns 29 this year...  How does that happen??

Today I'm on Suzy's blog with this fun birthday card that I made for So Suzy Stamps using one of her new March release sentiment stamps.

This Fairy image is not new, but it is one of my favorites.  It's a So Suzy Stamps silhouette stamp that I love to color in.

For this card, since I knew I was going to fussy cut my little "Tinkerbell" image out after coloring, I altered her just a bit.  Instead of using her pony tail, I gave her a hair cut.  LOL  When you're coloring, it's always fun to change things up.  I love to stretch images with my imagination.

To start my main image, I used a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper.  I stamped the silhouette image with the Rose Gold ink from The Ton.  I find that ink makes a perfect glowy base skin tone on which to color.  Once I had the silhouette, it was just a matter of adding details.  I used my new Polychromos pencils on this one.  I love the rich color they give, and they are so easy to blend, but yet give nice crisp details.  Once I was happy with my colored image, I fussy cut her, trimming off any areas I didn't need, including her wand...  I'll add that back later.  ;)

Next I prepared my card base.

I chose a Plum Pudding card base, as well my recycled mat. I used the shimmery paper that was in a few of my Clarity Stencil packages!  It was beautiful shimmery paper!  I saved all of the shimmery pieces to use for layering!

My card front panel is a piece of Fabriano smooth hot press watercolor paper.  I love that paper for distress inks.  It blends easily and removing color is also very easy.

I blended random distress ink colors onto my panel, including:  Crushed Olive, Wilted Violet, Dusty Concord, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot, to make a magical sky scene.   I then spattered little droplets of water from the end of a paintbrush onto the panel.  Once the water had set for 60 seconds or so to lift the colors, I pressed a paper towel to the panel and lifted those little inky droplets away leaving my "stars".

I then decided where my placement of my image and my Never Grow Up sentiment would be, and set up my fairy stamp in my MISTI, and just inked up the wand with embossing ink and stamped the wand onto the panel.  I heat embossed it using Wow! Silver Hologram embossing powder.  I also heat embossed my sentiment with silver embossing powder.

My next step was to make the illusion of the swoosh of her wand.  I used a pattern of tiny dots of glue and poured some tiny holographic stars over the dots and let them adhere.  Once the stars were firmly adhered, I then dumped the excess off and back into my container.

All that is left is assembly.  I glued my panel to my layered card base and glued the fairy image in place lining up the embossed wand so it appears in her hand!

I have the perfect friend to send this birthday card to.   She and I can be 29 forever!
