Spring Spray

Hi everyone!  Today I'm featuring a few of the new April release stamps from So Suzy Stamps.  This springtime release is so much fun to work with.

For my first card, I started with a white Gina K card base and a scrap of black card stock.  I wanted a way to showcase the pretty script font of the Celebrate stamp, so I wanted a clean and simple card with lots of white space.

I first stamped the Celebrate stamp on the scrap of black cardstock with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with a white superfine embossing powder.   Then I used a Spellbinders small rectangle die to cut it.  I ended up cutting part of the "tail" off, but for my vertical card, I needed to do that or the balance would just not work.

I then placed the rectangle in the desired position on my plain card base and very lightly traced the outline with pencil to use as a guide.  I used this faint rectangle to show where my stamped images would be in relation to the label when it was finished.  I then stamped a spray of flowers using the Spray and Mini Spray stamps and Playful Pumpkin, Royal Phineas and Buttercup Blast. Once the ink had dried a minute or two, I erased the pencil lines.

I then added Nuvo drops to the center of the flowers and let them dry.  Once they were fully dry, I added the sentiment strip using two layers of foam tape to make sure it fully cleared the Nuvo drops and gave a nice shadowy dimension to my simple design.

My second card was inspired by my scratch paper from making the first card.  I had been using a scrap of paper to stamp my images several times between ink colors to make sure my stamps were clean and that I was getting a true color.  The pattern of these stamps and the mix of colors was really unique, so I decided to use the same stamps to create my own patterned paper!

This time, I used a 1/4 sheet of Gina K cardstock and the larger Spray stamp and Caribbean Coral, Wave Whisper, Mellow Mint and Soft Sorbet to make a random patterned panel for my card.

Next I swiped my embossing buddy on my patterned panel and used my MISTI to stamp the Talk to the Moon and the Dancing Fairy stamps with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  I stamped it twice to get it really thick and coated well with ink, then quickly heat embossed it with clear embossing powder to give a pretty sheen to the images.  I used Versamark ink and Wow! Silver Hologram embossing powder to emboss the Mini Spray image just at the tip of her fingers, as if the fairy is reaching to touch the star.

For this card, I decided to layer my panel, so I trimmed a little from each side, and layered with a piece of Gina K Applemint cardstock and adhered it to a Papertrey Ink black card base.
