Misti, Watercolor and Inkon3

Happy Summer!

Man is it hot here today...  hot, humid and sauna-like.  Hopefully tonight's rain will cool things down again and put our temperatures a bit back to normal!  So I'm staying inside today doing a little laundry, and a little painting, enjoying a fabulous air-conditioned 72 degrees!

Today I finished up a no-line watercolor card that I started almost 2 weeks ago.

I started out by stamping this rose image from Inkon3's Roses in Bloom stamp set.  I used my Original MISTI to stamp the image with the Fade Out ink from their Essential Ink Bundle, onto my Fabriano Artistico 140# cold press watercolor paper.

I used Therm O Web's Purple Tape to tape the watercolor panel to the Mouse Pad of my MISTI to help keep my panel a bit flatter.

I then began applying Sennelier watercolors layer by layer, beginning with a pale blue wash for the background.  letting each layer dry completely before applying the next.

I began with a light yellow wash layer on my flowers, then slowly added more orange tones and finally some rust colors to create the contrast and shadow needed to give the illusion of shape and dimension.

Once I was satisfied with the level of contrast, I let it fully dry, then removed the Purple Tape and decided how I wanted to size the panel.  I tested a variety of the Hero Arts rectangle Infinity Dies to see how I wanted my card panel to look.
I used tiny bits of Purple Tape to hold the die in place, then ran it through my Big Shot Express to cut the panel.

I used a larger Infinity Die to cut a piece of coordinating cardstock to cut a mat, and also used the small banner die from Concord & 9th's Just Because die set to cut  a small banner for my sentiment strip.

Because my banner was so thin, I used my MISTI to help me line up the sentiment perfectly.
First I stamped the sentiment from Just Because in the center of my paper pad inside my MISTI using black ink, and while the stamp was still in place carefully cleaned the stamp.

I then used the negative from my die cutting to line up over that stamped sentiment.
I them popped the die cut back in the hole of the negative, and stamped with Inkon3's Embossing Ink (also part of the Essential Ink Bundle).
I carefully lifted the die cut and used tweezers to hold the edge of the die cut, covered with gold embossing powder and heat embossed.

I then assembled my panels and mat to a white top-fold card base with liquid glue.

Hope you are enjoying your day and getting crafty too!  Stay cool!

  1. This is absolutely gorgeous Chris.
It was unbearably hot here today as well (in Nova Scotia) and a thunderstorm warning is in the forecast for tonight. High temps are expected here for nearly the whole week to come... UGH!
