I am thrilled to announce that I am The Unity Stamp Company's GIU Girl this week! GIU, stands for Growing In Unity! I'm rather new to Unity Stamps, but the struggle is real. I want them all.
I thought for my first GIU post, I would use the very first stamp that got me hooked on Unity Stamps: it's designed by Angie Blom, and is part of the Angie Girl series, and is named Aleah Girl.
The sentiment that I chose to use is from February 2017 Kit of the Month, Unexpected Places. Yep. Got hooked on those too.
For this card. I stamped the Aleah Girl on Artist's Choice cardstock with a very pale gray ink then colored her with Prismacolor Premier colored pencils, giving her funky ombre purple hair. I absolutely LOVE coloring hair and denim. These skinny jeans and tall boots? They are so much fun to color. And... well, that's me: that's my fall/winter uniform. LOL
I just love these Angie girls, but I'll be honest. I didn't love them at first when I saw them online. You see these Angie Girls, for the most part, are faceless. The faceless images represent every woman. But I just didn't feel they were my thing.
However, in August of 2016, I was given this stamp by my friend Lou. It was a gift. So of course I was going to use it. So I decided that I would try to draw a hint of a face in, and make it more "my style". It was right there that the addiction began.
I enjoyed the challenge of faces so much, that I quickly ordered more. And placed a second order before the first one had even arrived! I now own dozens of them.
So for this, I blame Lou. LOL
Or sometimes I thank her.
And now... here is the REST of the story. (Did you read that in a Paul Harvey voice?)
I'll continue to be a GIU Girl for the next four days, and will be sharing a new project each weekday this week. Please stop back for more!
And... if you choose to leave a comment each day? You have a chance to be one of two winners of a gift of 25 random stamps from Unity Stamp Company! So please comment and come back again soon!
Have a fantastic day, and I'll see you tomorrow!
I love your coloring! I struggled with the faceless women as well, but they are winning me over!
ReplyDeleteI think the card is so cute!
ReplyDeleteChris, your creations are always amazing. I love following your posts on Facebook. Looking forward to what you have in store for us this week.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Chris!! Someday when I grow up I hope to be able to color half as well as you!! The Aleah girl is my favorite as that is/was the name of one of my granddaughters. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! I love the Angie Girls ... even with no faces. :-)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your creative week here.
Wow, i love the face you gave her. You did an awesome job coloring. How long have you been coloring? I want to be like you when I grow up.
ReplyDeleteThere really is something sentimental about that first Unity stamp that starts the addiction! Love your card!
ReplyDeleteI agree. My donuts set still makes my heart so happy!
DeleteBeautiful card! Your coloring is amazing!
ReplyDeleteTotally in love with Angie girls. Your today's message about yourself is great and love the addition of à face.
ReplyDeleteLove your card... I too have issues with the faceless women, but I bought the faces and now, I never use them, I think I keep losing them because they are so small... LOL Thanks for sharing your talents!
ReplyDeleteI never even thought of adding my own faces! I didn't realize that I am drawn to the ones that are looking away until my husband asked me why so many of my pieces show the back of the girl's head. Gonna try my hand at faces too. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing what you do for the rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteLove the purple hair....that's what I love about their girls at Unity ....you can color them to look like the person getting the card!
ReplyDeleteIt all starts with that one stamp....I was amazed how 1 Angie girl quick grew to 10! Very nice card and coloring.

ReplyDeleteLove this card and your take on adding the faces! I don't know that I could be brave enough to do it though...I'd be afraid of messing up an otherwise gorgeous stamped image, lol. I am new to Unity and expect my first order to arrive this week -but I am already in love!

ReplyDeleteI purchased this stamp originally because I saw one of your cards on Instagram. It was my first purchase from Unity. What was interesting is that my neighbor saw a card I'd made with the faceless Aleah stamp, and her immediate comment was, "that looks like me!" I later ordered 5 more of the Angie girls stamps as well as the face stamps.
